NC Zoo reopening Tuesday

Posted on 02/17/14

Asheboro, NC — Following six days of closure due to the recent winter storm, the North Carolina Zoo will reopen to the public on Tuesday, February 18.

While access roads have been open for several days, it has taken zoo staff additional time to remove snow and ice from more than five miles of walkways inside the park. With temperatures expected to reach the low 60s on Tuesday, all animal exhibits are expected to reopen. The lone exception will be the seal/sea lion habitat where maintenance will keep those animals off exhibit an additional day.

For information on daily operational status, the public can call the zoo’s toll-free number at 1-800-488-0444 or visit the website at www.nczoo.org.

The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, John E. Skvarla, III, Secretary; Pat McCrory, Governor.
