Posted on 02/01/12

ASHEBORO, NC - One of the North Carolina Zoo's African exhibits, the indoor African Pavilion, will close for five days for repairs and improvements beginning Monday, Feb. 6.

During the shutdown, zoo staff will perform routine maintenance such as pruning and thinning plants and trees, renovating planters, repainting, and cleaning and pressure-washing areas. The work cannot be accomplished safely while visitors are in the building. The Pavilion is scheduled to reopen to the public Saturday, Feb. 11, at 9 a.m.

All other animal exhibits in both the African and North American regions will remain open during the Pavilion improvement work, weather permitting.

The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment & Natural Resources, Dee Freeman, Secretary; Beverly Eaves Perdue, Governor.
