Celebration of Seagrove Potters - Spring Kiln Openings
Posted on 03/21/18Seagrove, NC - The Celebration of Seagrove Potters Spring Kiln Openings takes place on the weekend of April 21 and 22, 2018, from 9 am to 5 pm. This is a special 10th-anniversary event where visitors can celebrate Spring on a self-guided tour of individual pottery galleries, studios, and workshops in the Handmade Pottery Capital of the USA. Seagrove’s title of #1 Town in America for Craft Lovers, makes this event even more extraordinary. The tour is held at participating shops located in the downtown city center and throughout the countryside. Go behind the scenes to experience the process first hand and have the unique opportunity to meet the artists before buying handmade pottery to take home and enjoy.
Spring has always been a time for renewal and awakening in Seagrove. For this year's 10th anniversary, an unprecedented number shops are opening their doors at the same time to celebrate spring. From the downtown and nestled throughout the countryside, visitors can tour individual potter’s studios and workshops and shop for pottery pieces fresh from the kilns. Some potteries will have demonstrations, hands-on activities, food, and music.
Those attending will have the opportunity to win a gift certificate for $150 that can be used at one of the participating Celebration of Spring shops. Pick up a card at one of the shops, get it stamped in six shops and mail it back by May 5, 2018. Qualifying cards will be entered in a drawing, which will take place the weekend of May 12. This event is presented by the Seagrove Area Potters Association.
