Asheboro, NC - It’s a weekend of flora and fauna, along with a heaping helping of honeybees, crafts for kids and a salute to Mom at the North Carolina Zoo. Guests visiting the 500-acre conservation park this weekend can experience a trifecta of events: Birds, Blooms & Bees on May 13, the Zoo’s yearly Plant Sale on May 13-14, and a special Mother’s Day admission discount on May 14.

BIRDS, BLOOMS & BEES, MAY 13: Have you heard the buzz about our fine, feathered friends and pretty posies and petals?  From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., activities throughout the Zoo will highlight the symbiotic relationship and individual importance that bees, birds, and flowers have.

Special events include:

●Education Stations at the Zoo’s Aviary will feature bird watching, special rounds of “Bird Bingo,” crafts and other games.

            ● “Bee Smart” stations at the Zoo’s Bee Exhibit will have a hive of information about beekeeping and our beneficial, buzzing buddies.

            ● “All About Butterflies” will be the focus of the fun in the North America Plaza and Kidzone, with crafts, seed giveaways, and butterfly habitat information.
