North Carolina Zoo Posts Record Attendance for 2015-16 Fiscal Year

Posted on 07/14/16

ASHEBORO, NC – Between July 1, 2015 and June 30, 2016, a record 755,567 guests visited the North Carolina Zoo making the fiscal year attendance the highest in 19 years and the fourth highest in the Zoo’s history. With the addition of male polar bear Nikita and great interest surrounding his interaction with female polar bear Anana, temperate weather and growing focus on the Zoo as a Spring Break destination, the park saw near capacity crowds in March and April as well as heavily attended weekends in June which pushed attendance numbers much higher than in recent years. Pat Simmons, Zoo Director said, "We are delighted to see a significant increase in visitors for the last fiscal year. Growth in visitor numbers means we are reaching more and more people with our message of education, conservation and wonderful animals at the largest zoo in the world."
